Is stainless steel heat-resistant?

Stainless steel is heat-resistant and has proven excellent for everyday kitchen use. It is no wonder that stainless steel is the top choice in professional kitchens.

However, hot pans or pots should be placed on the stove or on trivets, not directly on the stainless steel, as high temperatures can damage the product surface and/or cause discoloration.

Is stainless steel scratch-resistant?

Stainless steel is a very robust, high-quality material that maintains a like-new appearance for years. Signs of use are normal and give the noble material a beautiful patina over time. Scratch resistance varies depending on the surface.

Especially robust: our IceDesign. Its scratch resistance gives every custom-made product timeless beauty.

Tip: To keep the appearance lasting, use chopping boards and avoid dragging sharp objects directly across the surface. Also follow the care instructions.

What is the difference between matte and glossy surfaces on basins?

  • Matte: Brushed, silky-matte surface – easy to maintain, less prone to fingerprints and minor wear. Modern and understated look.
  • Glossy: Polished, shiny surface – classic and reflective, highlights the design and looks elegant. Minor wear can be polished if needed.

Choosing matte or glossy is a matter of personal taste. Both surfaces are designed for kitchen use and have proven reliable thousands of times. Matte surfaces and built-in appliances are currently trending and often the preferred choice.

Can all basins be installed in a custom stainless steel fabrication?

Depending on the material, different installation methods are available:

Stainless steel: Basins are welded.
The fusion of countertop and basin into a single material unit is our specialty. The aesthetic advantages are immediately apparent: the concept creates a seamless look, significantly enhancing the overall impression. Functional benefits include the jointless transition between the two levels, making cleaning easier.

Cristadur / Cristalite Plus / Carbon: Undermount installation
Basins are mounted seamlessly under the stainless steel countertop. There are limitations: installation is only possible with SolidSteel customizations, i.e., solid stainless steel countertops. Installation is not possible with SmartSteel customizations.

Overflow and drain technology

What overflow systems are available?

There are two main types of overflow systems: the classic overflow slot and the concealed overflow.

In the overflow slot, the opening is embossed directly into the basin wall.

The concealed overflow provides a clean appearance and is available in two variants:

  • Concealed overflow with magnetic cover: the cap is magnetically attached and can be easily removed for cleaning.
  • Concealed overflow with pivoting overflow cap: the stainless steel cap automatically folds back as the water level rises and can also be easily removed for

Overflow and drain technology

What types of drain systems are available?

There are different types of drain systems. These include the classic version with a top strainer, the concealed drain with Desino, where the basket is hidden under a cover, and the standpipe variant, where water is held back by an inserted standpipe.

Depending on the model, the variants differ in operation, design, and comfort.

Overflow and drain technology

What control options are available for the drain operation?

There are three types of drain operation: manual, electronic, and remote-controlled drain.

  • Manual: e.g., Tipo, basket plug, or standpipe.
  • Electronic: eFlow (sensor-controlled) or TouchFlow (activated by pressing the overflow cap).
  • With remote-controlled drain: operated via pull knob, rotary knob, or control button on the work surface.

Overflow and drain technology

What is the difference between drain Type S and Type M?

The difference lies in the strainer and its diameter, making it easy to identify the two drain types.

  • Type M: strainer with 97 mm (stainless steel) or 98 mm (Cristadur) diameter and 9 slots
  • Type S: strainer with 110 mm diameter and 12 slots

The two drain types are based on different valve generations and basin embossings and are not interchangeable.

Overflow and drain technology

Can I replace or upgrade the drain later?

The main drain is embossed into the basin during the manufacturing process and cannot be replaced.
Individual parts such as strainers or plugs can, depending on the model, be replaced or added at any time.

Overflow and drain technology

How does the concealed overflow work?

The concealed overflow is embossed into the basin wall and has no seams.
If the water level rises too high, the excess water is drained through the overflow, preventing the basin from overflowing.

Depending on the version, the overflow is fitted with a magnetic cover or a pivoting overflow cap, which opens automatically as the water level rises.
The smooth integration also makes cleaning easier and enhances hygiene.

Overflow and drain technology

How do I properly clean the drain system?

All valve components are dishwasher-safe and easy to clean.

  • Desino drain: open the cover, remove the strainer, remove food residues, and clean with warm water and a mild detergent.
  • Strainer drain: remove the strainer, remove residues, and rinse with warm water and a mild detergent.
  • Overflow: clean from the outside only – do not pour chemical cleaners directly inside.

For gentle care, we recommend using only mild, pH-neutral cleaners without abrasive components.
